Quay Dental is the first dedicated sedation clinic in the West of Ireland for nervous or anxious patients. A fear of dentistry is a very common problem and you are not alone if you have a fear of the dentist. We are very happy to see nervous patients and we have yet to meet someone we couldn’t help.
We understand the difficulty nervous patients have even phoning the practice. Please let us know if you are feeling anxious or worried. We assure you that every patient is treated with respect, care and compassion.
If you, or someone you know is very nervous about undergoing dental treatment then you could benefit greatly from having treatment carried out under intravenous sedation.
I.V. Sedation is a procedure whereby a sedative drug is administered intravenously prior to having dental treatment. The sedative effects of the drug last for approximately 2 hours allowing our dentists to complete any treatment needed without any fear or apprehension.
I.V. Sedation is an effective, safe and less costly alternative to general anaesthesia and is available at Quay Dental in the heart of Galway City.
This type of sedation provides a profound reduction in anxiety. It also eliminates most if not all memory of the procedure. This is a very effective method of sedation for anxious patients and we are happy to be able to offer this procedure.
I.V. Sedation is very safe. However, you will require an escort to accompany you for several hours after your treatment. Anyone in good health is a suitable candidate for IV sedation.
I.V. Sedation will allow even the most nervous patients to accomplish full dental health in as little as one appointment.

With SEDATION DENTISTRY, we can complete most of your dental care at one time. We can often do extended treatments in a couple of appointments, including:
Most patients feel no discomfort whatsoever during their treatment and feel surprisingly good afterwards.
You’ll receive just enough sedation so that you’ll be completely unaware of the treatment, as you would if you were asleep.
At the end of the treatment, you’ll have little or no memory of your dental visit.
You will feel just fine. For your safety, we do require that you have a family member or friend drive you home.
